Origins and Charism
Founded in Rome in 1835 by Saint Vincent Pallotti, the Society unites clergy, religious, and laity (the Union of Catholic Apostolate) to revive faith and rekindle charity.
Early German Presence
Initial leadership and priests in regions like Alberta, including the area around Edmonton, largely came via German provinces (Sacred Heart Province) to serve local Catholic faithful.
Shifting Demographics
As the number of aging European-born priests declined in the early 2000s, international renewal brought priests from the Bangalore Province in India and Poland to staff Canadian parishes.
